ImmigrationLawHelp.org has created a database of free and/or low-cost nonprofit legal services. You can refine your search on their website based on where you live, detention centers, types of legal services, etc.
cEducators For Fair Consideration (E4FC) came up with a guide to help undocumented folk with potential ideas/remedies for their documentation status. E4FC states:
"This guide is not intended as legal advice – do not make decisions about which category to apply for based just on this information. Rather, use this guide to spot categories that might work for you, now or in the future. And then explore them through the links provided and through competent, accredited legal service providers."
Please ensure that undocumented individuals seek legal advice from immigration lawyers or United States Citizenship and Immigration Services/Board of Immigration Appeals-approved services (such as the Catholic Charities of Monterey). Any misinformation can compromise students' safety and chances at pursuing citizenship. Do not refer students to unapproved services such as notarios.
